August 26 is a hard Shopify deadline for non-Plus stores.
If you still use the old Thank You and Order Status pages, Shopify can auto-upgrade them after that date. Additional scripts and incompatible apps need supported replacements.
The ugly part is that your store may keep taking orders. The break can show up later in tracking or in a customization a customer should see after checkout.
Pull the upgrade report now.
Go to Settings > Checkout in Shopify and look at the Configurations section.
If you see a notice to upgrade your Thank You and Order Status pages by August 26, your store is still using the deprecated versions. Click Review customizations to open the personalized report Shopify generated for your store.
Your report may include:
- Compatible apps that can be reconnected with app pixels or app blocks
- Incompatible apps that need a developer update or a replacement
- Additional scripts used for tracking, analytics, or page customizations
An empty report means there is less work. Finish the page replacement. If the report lists anything, that list is your migration plan.
Shopify does not copy additional scripts into the new Thank You and Order Status pages. The replacement depends on the job the old code handled.
Tracking and analytics should move to an app pixel. If a compatible app does not exist, Shopify allows a custom pixel.
Customer-facing customizations should move to app blocks, a built-in Shopify feature, or a compatible app. This covers the content or functionality an old script added to the page.
Upgrading replaces the old pages and their existing customizations. Check off an item only after you have seen its replacement work.
Shopify warns that event counts can fall after you move tracking into app or custom pixels. Those pixels respect customer consent. Older additional scripts often did not handle consent correctly.
Lower event volume alone cannot tell you whether the migration failed. Check whether the expected events arrive when consent allows them. Then verify order values and make sure each event fires once.
Shopify gives you two ways to handle the handoff. Connecting the new pixel before you disable the old script avoids a tracking interruption, though both can send events during the overlap. Disabling the old script first avoids duplicates and creates a possible gap.
Document the cutover time. Keep any overlap short, and check the destination platform again after the old script is off.
Keep screenshots of the old page and a copy of each script's purpose. You may need them when an app name in the report does not explain the business rule it was handling.
Stores already on the new Thank You and Order Status pages do not have this specific migration left. If the August 26 notice is absent, confirm the current page version and move on.
Shopify Plus stores have a separate upgrade guide. Pause and Build stores are upgraded automatically, and Shopify says that automatic upgrade cannot be reverted.
Everyone else should leave enough time for an app developer or analytics partner to answer. Finding an incompatible app on August 25 leaves almost no room for a clean test.
The Thank You page sits after the payment, so it is easy to treat it like a receipt. It often carries the tracking and page logic that tells the rest of your stack what just happened.
August 26 is close enough that waiting for the final week invites a rushed tracking change. Pull the report, replace what matters, and run test orders while you still have room to fix the misses.
Your post-purchase page should be boring on deadline day.
